Jaroslav was standing at the start of the Bike-Marathon World Championship in the French town of Laissac with the feeling of a great form. But he failed to transform this good feeling into one of the medals or even into the rainbow jersey. From the beginning of the 90km long race with the elevation of 3,310 metres he set a high pace and manged to tear the pack of racers quickly. He perfectly coped with the first puncture and quickly reached the five-member leading group. The second puncture in the second third of the race forced Jaroslav to give it up.
“It´s a pity, I was feeling well today and believed in a good result. First a stick got in the wheel and tore out the brake hose and then I had to deal with two other punctures, one in the back, I changed it and still was in the leading group, but somewhere in the 62nd km I had another puncture in the front and it was de facto the end, I couldn´t fix it with the bomb,” explained visibly disappointed Jaroslav his early end in the race, which eventually won the Portuguese Tiago Ferreira.
